It is believed that the angakkuq (shaman) was able to transform between human and animal forms and could travel between the physical and spiritual worlds. Often by way of the drum dance, angakkuit might assume avian form to fly, or seal or walrus form to journey beneath the ice. When Sedna, the Inuit sea goddess, is upset with humans over their transgressions, a powerful angakkuq is able to transform into a seal and swim down to her, appeasing her by singing and combing her tangled hair. This lovely transformation by Cee is a fine example of the skill he brings to the print studio, and he is now one of the foremost stonecut printers in Kinngait.
