As with the best of his oeuvre, this Muskox is shown with hooves firmly planted, its stance steady and deliberate. The creature’s dense coat is elaborately carved, with the hair stylized into long, rhythmic striations that fringe the base of the figure like a sculpted hem. This detailing not only suggests texture and weight but also anchors the composition visually. The work achieves a compelling sense of poised stillness through minimal gesture and confident execution. Rather than relying on dramatic movement or flourish, it commands attention through its quiet strength, balance, and sculptural clarity, a hallmark of Qimirpik’s most accomplished carvings.
