The tag attributes the work to Weetaltook, a name most commonly associated with artists from Kuujjuarapik. However, the “H” designation suggests Port Harrison, now Inukjuak, where several individuals named Weetaluktuk are also known. It’s difficult to say for certain. Artists often moved between communities, and names were frequently altered, shortened, or recorded inconsistently. For example, Syollie Weetaluktook appears in Sculpture / Eskimo as “Saroli Weetaluk” (1971, p. 332).
