Little Raven achieves a stunning sense of depth through meticulous tonal gradation, particularly in the velvety shading of the bird’s body. Though largely monochrome, the work is anything but dull. Subtle shifts from smoky greys to deep blacks give the raven a lifelike volume, while the wings are delicately rendered in ethereal, near-transparent stencil, a fine airy pattern that evokes the shimmer of real plumage. The muted palette allows the red-ringed eye to pop, offering striking focal points in an otherwise restrained composition.
