Any peruse through books dedicated to Kenojuak Ashevak, or a simple Google search would bring dozens upon dozens of images of owls to the forefront as an often returned to subject matter. In this Young Owl, we have a simple body of an owl with wide, bright eyes that is surrounded by undulating fronds of feathers. While simple and subtle in colour, there is a luminescent quality to the printing, almost as if light is starting to shine through the centre of the owl out of the page. The owl itself has a familiar air to it, as keen viewers may recognize it from another work by Kenojuak, Loons Protect the Owl from 2002, another special release.
