Mother Earth is one from the print collection issued by Kinngait Studios in the spring of 2012. The collection paid tribute to the first generation of Dorset draughtsman, including Kenojuak Ashevak.
In the work, Kenojuak offers a radiant, almost ecstatic vision of interconnectedness. The earth mother's outstretched limbs morph into animals and organic frond-like forms, blurring boundaries between human and environment, body and spirit. The symmetrical composition radiates outward from a smiling face, anchoring the fevered scene in pure joy.
