Mother Earth was released as part of the 2012 Kinngait Studios spring print collection, a tribute to the foundational generation of Cape Dorset artists, among them Kenojuak Ashevak.

In this work, Kenojuak presents an expansive vision of interconnectedness that feels at once spiritual and biological. The figure’s limbs extend and transform, becoming birds, beasts, and curling tendrils, dissolving any firm line between self and world. From the centre, a smiling face acts as both focal point and emotional compass. The composition unfolds with near-perfect symmetry, not as a constraint but as a structure through which exuberance can travel. It is a portrait of unity rendered in forms that seem to breathe.
