Like many paintings by Roy Thomas, this work is striking in colour and form: the multitude of animals wind their way up the height of the canvas, each with their own palette of hues and highlights. Black outlines and the layered eyes of the animals punctuate the work, further emphasizing the curve to the path of the work. The distinct forms of the animals are reminiscent of pictographs, a deeply influential form and style for Thomas thanks to visits to the pictographs found on the rocks around Lake Superior and Northwestern Ontario in his younger years.
