A northern style canoe model with a prow figure in the form of a beaver holding a chewstick. In the late nineteenth and early 20th centuries, sculptured figures would depict the crest of the clan or house which owned the canoe. Model canoes with carved prow figures are relatively rare and much less common than painted examples.
