Tim Pitsiulak’s reputation as a hunter and his deep respect for the land and beings around him always comes through in his work. This print, a beautifully long and lean work, was one of two by Pitsiulak to be featured in the 2009 Cape Dorset Annual Print Collection, the 50th rendition of the collection. A frequent user of black paper for his drawn and printed works, the seals have a stunning ethereal quality as they glow off the page, floating through some seaweed and bubbles. The length of the print almost gives you the sense that the seals have traveled across the paper.
