Born near the present day settlement of Kimmirut (Lake Harbour) in his Eskimo Prints, James Houston referred to Anirnik as "a small quick woman full of stoicism and good humour" (1967, p. 94). Certainly a sense of 'good humour' can be felt in the present print, the subject for which is a highly idiosyncratic depiction of a shore bird with exaggerated and whimsical attributes.
