Continuing the efforts of craft officer Claude Grenier, by the late 1970s only a handful of artists, including Eli Tikeayak were amongst those still working in the soon-to-be closed ceramic facility. This work, employs the experimental salt glazing technique, in which salt is thrown in to a kiln. The chemical reaction of the salt with the silica in the clay produces a high gloss finish with streaks of brilliant, icy blue.
