Known for his depictions of northern wildlife, Drum Song was one of seven animal themed prints by Kananginak Pootoogook in the 2010 Annual Print Collection. While the others featured a calmer colour palate, this one has punchy blends of vibrant colour. The three bears chase each other around the drum, themselves subtly coloured with white and yellow against the black. Held aloft by an unknown left hand, one could easily imagine this drum proudly being played.
