Eva Talooki Aliktiluk’s carvings are mostly small, stone figures, either alone or carrying children, but they are far from simple thanks to her signature adornments. Stripes upon fringe are carefully designed around the stone, creating a mantle of colour that sits along the figure's shoulders. Woman in Beaded Amautiq is a lovely example of this, as a minimally carved singular figure is draped in flamboyant colours and shades. While the smaller size of the stone could leave minimal space for the beads, they keep a punchy feel too them, catching your eye as they swish from side to side.
