In Men Hunting by Water Vessels while Birds Overlook the large birds, perched with an almost ceremonial stateliness, dominate the scene, their watchful gaze a silent narrative against the backdrop of the hunt below. Pudlo's use of colour is subtle yet purposeful, with the rich browns and calming greens creating a naturalistic palette that speaks to the environment of the depicted scene. This work is characteristic of Pudlo's style, wherein the everyday act of hunting is given a layer of depth and complexity through the inclusion of the vigilant, observant birds.
