The mask by Veronica Hackett represents Q!umugwe' (Kumugwe', Komokwa, Chief of the Undersea), a character often associated with the supernatural world beneath the ocean, ruling over the creatures and spirits that reside there.

The mask itself features a predominantly green and blue colour palette, which recalls the underwater environment. The face is framed by cedar bark that is styled to resemble seaweed, enhancing its connection to the ocean. The bold use of black, red, and lighter wood tones outlines and accentuates the facial features, which are striking and expressive.
