This etching and aquatint by Kenojuak Ashevak, and printed by Studio PM in Montreal, features a poised owl its the centre, surrounded by eight symmetrical bird heads, creating a powerful and balanced composition. The deep orange of the owl's body contrasts with its striking purple eyes, commanding attention as the central figure, exuding an air of calm authority. The circular arrangement of bird heads around the owl evokes a sense of protection and reverence. The richness of the aquatint medium enhances the vibrant colours, adding depth and texture, while the precision of etching brings crisp detail to every line. The result is a captivating work where the owl presides with quiet strength.
