While his stature as the premier polar bear sculptor demanded that he devote his energies to sculpture, Pauta still managed to produce almost 50 different graphics over a period of 5 decades. Interestingly, very few of his printed works deal with the subject for which he is best remembered. Instead, his best graphic works deal with avian subject rather than terrestrial ones. His Owl is an iconic Dorset image and one of the strongest prints from arguably the best decade of Kinngait printmaking.
