Despite its inherent static state, this work captures an extraordinary sense of movement. The lemming, its body stretched and taut, seems frozen mid-sprint, its back legs kicking off as if in a desperate bid for survival. Above, the hawk leans sharply forward, its wings outstretched in for a downward plunge, embodying precision and focus. The tension that feels palpable and this juxtaposition of predator and prey draws us into the narrative, but leaves us uncertain—are we cheering for the lemming’s escape or marvelling at the hawk’s deadly grace?
