A 1967 sculpture by him was included in the famous Sculpture/Inuit travelling exhibition of 1971-73. This magnificent sculpture of two young bears engaged in a playful fight is an excellent example of how Mamgark was somehow able to tame the unusually hard local stone and make it bend to his whim. His use of negative space and the unusually smooth surface texture is rather atypical for Arviat. We also love the meticulously carved antler dentition.Provenance
