Irkok’s carving style is relatively naturalistic compared to the work of many of his Arviat peers. Jacob Irkok began carving in 1962, and carved regularly in both stone and antler until his death in 2009; he also created a number of fine drawings in the last few years of his life. His work has been included in at least fifteen public exhibitions, and is held in public collections including the Canadian Museum of History, the Winnipeg Art Gallery, and the Art Gallery of Ontario.
