This delightful hunter shouts with joy or excitement as he prepares to throw his harpoon. One of the most charming features of this work is Tigullaraq’s treatment of the hunter’s qamiit (boots). Their stumpy bottoms are circular rather than oblong, resembling elephant’s feet or chess piece bases more than they do human feet! Come to think of it, they are larger but not so different from the small feet of the artist’s Hunter with Readied Spear and Knife, which dates somewhat earlier.
