A great lover and observer of the natural world around him, Qavavau Manumie frequently returns to northern animals as a subject matter. In keeping with his signature playful and illustrative drawing style, Qavavau’s printed work has a beautiful lyrical feel to them, and Migration of the Whales is no exception. The whales and narwhals have a subtle luminescence to them, carefully layered on black paper. As one of the few artists who prints their own works at the Co-op's studio, Qavavau has an eye on the entire process, ensuring that his vision for the work can come to life on the paper.
