SHEOJUK ETIDLOOIE (1932-1999) KINNGAIT (CAPE DORSET)
signed, "ᓯᐅᔪ".
Two stacked bear-like figures fill the page, their forms outlined in brown and filled with frenetic pencil strokes that pulse with energy. Their faces are abstracted and joyful, reduced to green triangles and crescents that somehow say everything. Limbs jut out at odd angles, playful and unbalanced. The colouring is exuberant, spilling past the lines with a sense of motion. There is no setting, only the joy of the figures themselves, rendered with a hand that feels both deliberate and free.
