ANIRNIK OSHUITOQ (1902-1983) KINNGAIT (CAPE DORSET)
46/50
ESTIMATE: $300 — $500
Anirnik brings a spirit figure together with two boldly imagined animals in this lively early engraving. Fine, insistent lines pack the dark bodies with texture, while round, staring eyes and exaggerated features give the creatures an alert, almost comic intensity. Above them, the floating spirit reaches down to the central animal, the extended hand creating a strange physical link between the figures. Familiar human and animal forms are stretched, simplified, and recombined into a scene that is playful, peculiar, and unmistakably supernatural.
