Gathering its energy in a buoyant arc, Shaman About to Take Flight is composed primarily of a dark, highly polished stone that both drinks in the light and releases with a gentle sheen that cascades across its curves. For the shaman, Anghik employs virtually no angles, every edge of its form relaxes and rounds into planes that shift and undulate, so the form seems to move as you circle it. A compact face pushes forward from the centre, while broad wings open into a continuous sweep that reads as air held in the body. The base, cut from a contrasting stone, introduces hard geometry that grounds the lift and sharpens the dialogue between weight and ascent. Beautiful.
