While Lucy Tasseor Tutsweetok was generally focusing on smaller and medium-sized works during the 1980s and early 1990s, some notable exceptions were added to her canon of work. The present Mother and Child stands with presence, and not just for being almost a foot and a half tall. Gently curved planes define the mother's form as a whole, while sweeping, carved lines delineate the hemlines and hood of an amautiq. The matriarch is undoubtedly the main figure of this work, stoic in her stance, with a small child present to further celebrate her motherhood.
