These finely dressed dolls offer a charming glimpse of northern clothing traditions in miniature.
Each figure wears a carefully assembled fur parka with contrasting trim, leggings, mittens, and boots, while the softly modelled faces are individually painted and framed by full fur ruffs. Small differences in hairstyle, facial features, and dress give the pair distinct personalities. Their careful construction, tactile materials, close attention to layered winter clothing, and realistic faces make them especially appealing examples of late twentieth century Inuit doll making that follow in the hyper-realistic doll making tradition of Ethel Washington, Effie Richards, and Dolly Spencer.
