Though now separated from its original basket, this lid remains a fine example of Tlingit weaving. Around the rim, a broad band of false embroidery forms an interlocking stepped pattern in cream, burgundy, orange and black. Repeated right angles and nested forms carry the design continuously around the circumference. The decorated band provides a strong horizontal contrast to the finely woven, gently domed surface above.
