This larger model pole features a Thunderbird with a Human face in its chest over a Raven. It is cleanly carved and painted in green, blue, yellow, black, and burgundy. The wings are pegged into the back, and the pole is mounted on a beveled base.
Although this pole is signed with some additional information noted on the back, it’s a little unclear who the carver may have been. The totem is signed on the back “Bob” with a last name that appears to be Haseley or Hurley, but this pole is nearly identical to works by an artist from Victoria with the same handwriting named Robert “Bob” George. The pole is well carved and reflects the amalgam of styles practiced by artists from Vancouver Island.
