A celebrated Haida weaver, the work of Primrose Adams rightfully sits in a venerated space for its finesse and complexity. While larger works of her, such as the full-sized and functional rain hats take pride and place in many collections, the petite versions have charm and mastery to match their larger counterparts. Miniature Pendant Rain Hat with Tail is carefully woven out of split spruce roots, made identically to full-sized spruce root rain hats. Further, this hat includes a single ermine-like tail, mimicking the single pelt that was traditionally added as a symbol of status and position to a chief's headdress. Though diminutive in final scale, there is no less skill or thought put into this hat as there would be in others, and it should be admired as such.
