This three-figure argillite model pole features a Human holding a circular rattle, Raven with a Copper in its beak, and a Waasgo on the bottom. Along with his father and son, Arthur Moody was a member of the Moody family of multigenerational argillite carvers who “have probably contributed a greater volume of argillite than any three generations in a single family.” [1] Moody’s work can be found in a number of major museum collections, including the Museum of Anthropology at UBC and the Museum of Vancouver. The Human figure appears to have a labret, which combined with the circular rattle and Waasgo, may indicate that this pole is depicting the Lazy Son-in-Law story.
