This standing figure demonstrates the inventive use of naturally shed caribou antler that became a hallmark of Baker Lake sculpture during the latter half of the twentieth century. The artist has worked with the existing contours of the material, allowing its branching form to determine the figure’s posture and movement. Although the attribution remains tentative, the sculpture reflects the imaginative adaptation of natural materials that distinguishes the Baker Lake antler tradition.
