Qavavau Manumie often begins with the close observation of Arctic animals, then presses those familiar forms into ingenious systems of symmetry and pattern. Here, birds and fish lock together around a strong central axis, their bodies paired, flipped, and fitted with almost puzzle-like precision. Each creature remains legible, yet the overlapping fins, wings, beaks, and bodies gather into a larger design that hovers between image and abstraction. Pale pink, yellow, and grey sharpen the structure without overwhelming it, allowing shape and spacing to carry the composition. Manumie turns a small assembly of familiar animals into something taut, playful, and visually intricate.
