A skilled presence in the printing studio in Kinngait for over a decade now, Nujalia Quvianatuliaq began his drawing career through the influence of his brother Niviaksie Quvianaqtuliaq, a fellow printmaker. His landscapes, often densely coloured onto black paper, frequently depict the sparse rocky landscapes around Kinngait with open skies and the wide arctic ocean. Here, islands emerge from a vast green expense, further punctuated against a streaked and cloudy sky. The colour is deep and dense on the paper, giving a lush feel to the land, and a further sense of realism to the sky.
