The 1975 Dorset Annual Print Collection saw for the first time a collection of lithographs included to compliment the stonecuts, stenciled prints, and engravings. Terry Ryan, then General Manager, noted in the catalogue that they were “pleased with the results” of the lithographs, and that they would be the first of many to come. 1

In the spring of 1976, a collection of new lithographs from Kinngait were released and displayed across the country, including Bird of the Sea. It was Eegyvudluk Ragee’s second foray into the Annual Collection, and with what would be only a handful of lithographs done over her career, Bird of the Sea stands out amongst her catalogue. The lithograph shows her hand with every pencil stroke, as feathers and fronds erupt from the bird’s wings and tail. Pops of black and orange break up the blue and add depth to the scene. With a playfully turned neck and head, the bird’s eye faces the viewer, perhaps showing off their beautiful plumage.
