Calvin Hunt's Bear Mask possesses a formidable presence, its imposing, boldly carved features heightened by the dramatic contrast of colour and material. Sweeping black brows frame the piercing eyes, while passages of red and green follow the contours of the cheeks and powerful muzzle, set against the warm tones of exposed cedar. Copper accents enliven the eyes and ears, while abalone inlaid into the nostrils adds a subtle shimmer. The open mouth, with its sharp, angular teeth, lends the face a fearsome expression. Thick bear fur surrounds the carving, culminating in a suspended paw that accentuates its sculptural power.
