An open basket made by an unidentified Puget Sound Coast Salish artist dating to the 1950’s. Constructed with natural and dyed raffia, this basket is sewn using a bundle coil method. The diamond shaped designs are sewn onto the basket with grass dyed in black, yellow, greed, and red. Coiled baskets such as this were traditionally used as cooking baskets due to their water-tight construction and sturdy structure.
