Despite its small scale, this medallion carries the drama of a much larger composition. An eagle spreads its wings across the circular field, gripping an elongated salmon in its talons as the fish twists below. Finely worked feathers and carefully articulated forms animate the scene, while the round format recalls the bold central designs of historic platters, here transformed into an intimate work of personal adornment.
