Mattusi Iyaituk's artistic exploration of the human body in the present "Torso," 1996 recalls the creative epiphany of the finest 19th sculptors, including Auguste Rodin. Though it is curio-cabinet appropriate in its size, the softly arched back and active stance — albeit with truncated limbs reminiscent of the marbles of Greek and Roman antiquities — of the present work convey a powerful sense of movement.Further images
