His works from the late 1950s...In his later years, Aqjangajuk focused primarily on dynamic and whimsical depictions of drummers, bears, and walrus poised in all manner of precarious positions. His works from the late 1950s and 1960s, however, are generally less fanciful and grounded on a keen observation of daily camp life. This lovely woman is a classic example of early sixties Kinngait sculpture, created just as the community was beginning to work with the newly discovered jade-like serpentinite stone.
