Fully carved and painted in a mostly dark but rich and pleasing palette of colours, this excellent model pole is a classic example of Kwakwaka’wakw sculpture from the earlier part of the twentieth century. It has been suggested that the pole is by the hand of Dick Price, and based on a comparison with a similar pole in the Museum of Vancouver collection attributed to Price by Russell Smith, this is a possibility. In descending order, the figures represented here are an eagle, an orca, a bear, and a human.
