(The image may have been pulled from a larger composition by the artist, as was sometimes done in Cape Dorset – see Parr’s drawing, Lot 104.) Parr’s characteristic direct approach to form is clearly present in this print. The “c” shape created by the body and flipper of the seal below relates in contour to the bent-over hunter figure, creating a sense of both contrast and balance. Wisely printed on a half sheet, Timothy Ottochie accentuates the verticality, and thus the drama, of the composition.
