Known for his keen eye for detail, many of Adam Alorut’s pieces work within the theme of the relationship between good and evil. This is subtly shown in this beautifully carved work, Tornaq (Tuurngaq) Combing its Hair, as this spirit is known to be both malignant and benevolent in their activities. Many Tuurngait appear harmless to the human eye, a tactic used to lure unsuspecting people back to their caves, but this one has hints of their demonic being with the cloven hooves and horns peaking through their hair.
