In this image, the stems of the flowers blow back with such force that we nearly feel the wind in the loon’s wake as it lurches forward on its speedy trajectory. The bouquet that the bird carries in its seemingly smiling beak is coloured in a kaleidoscopic splendour. Green and blue stems twist over each other, transforming the floral arrangement into rapturous forms. Their ends are capped with buds that swell and flower in a breathtaking pattern of red and pink.
