As note in Arctic Spirit: Inuit art from the Albrecht Collection at the Heard Museum, "[Silas Kayakjuak's] themes are typical of contemporary figurative Inuit sculpture - mothers and children, games, the single human figure or face - but they convey a sense of intimacy and preciousness" (p. 187). Here in Resting Man we can see a quiet moment as a man drifts into sleep, perhaps from exhaustion or the monotony of waiting out his prey, carved into the distinctive different stone that can be found in Kayakjuak's home of Sanirajak (Hall Beach).
