Debassige's paintings have been much admired for the sureness of application and inventiveness with form lines. Employing this now classic approach, Debassige thoroughly works out his idea across the entire canvas. Unlike others, who place a central image or images against a stark or monochromatic background, Debassige manages to build his composition out of the background [1].
