    Albert Joseph is a member of a large family of artists from the Squamish / Coast Salish nation. This panel represents a Huzwhukw (Hok Hok) headdress which is a supernatural bird and one of three guardians of Baxwbakwakanuksiwe, the cannibal at the North end of the world. These headdresses are danced by initiates earning rights and privileges in the hamatsa ritual which is the most important dance complex for the Kwak-waka’wakw nation
