An earlier, well-carved killer whale rattle by renowned Kwakwaka’wakw carver Stan Hunt, a direct descendant of Tlingit ethnologist George Hunt (1854 – 1933) and member of the Hunt family of...An earlier, well-carved killer whale rattle by renowned Kwakwaka’wakw carver Stan Hunt, a direct descendant of Tlingit ethnologist George Hunt (1854 – 1933) and member of the Hunt family of artists and scholars. The rattle has several abalone and copper inlays and a spruce root wrapped handle. The imagery of the rattle is very strong and features a Dzunukwa with human hair as a blowhole and flukes that are anthropomorphized into a humanoid face.
