At first Eekerkik did not carve full figures but fashioned first stone and then antler faces for his wife Ikiperiak’s dolls and wall hangings. However he eventually became famous for his antler carvings of people engaged in everyday activities. Eekerkik’s charming folk-art constructions are immediately recognizable; his invention of scorching the caribou antler figures to define hair and other features is the signature trademark of his style.
