Rather than amazing us with his daring and technical virtuosity, here Osuitok has opted for a simple, crisp silhouette on this charmingly quizzical bird, which dates to the late 1960s or very early 1970s. There is a purity of form and line that is almost graphic in its sensibility. The sculpture’s virtual two-dimensionality is reinforced when we note that this bird is supported by a single, sturdy leg.
